Chembra peak is located in Chembra hills at Meppady range of Wayanad District in Kerala. The altitude of the hills ranges between 1100 to 1800asl. The forest type of Chembra is tropical wet evergreen shola an -grassland. The area has good wildlife and birds’ population. The trekking trails are undulated and ascending and descending through the same path. A Soochipara waterfall is one of the highest in Kerala and comes in Chembra circuit. Poonchira is a peak in the West slope of the Ghat near Vythiri adjacent to Chembra hills. Chembra is accessible from Vythiri, Kalpetta and Bathery.We offer trekking and camping in Poonchira with Chembra climb and Soochipara waterfalls visit.
Poonchira Camp is located at 1500asl near Vythiri. Poonchira is a perennial lagoon located in the border of the camp. The campsite is well equipped with tents and cottages for camping. The camp is surrounded by tropical wet evergreen forest, forest ponds, tea gardens etc. We arranges trek to Chembra, Soochipara etc.
The camp offer 2-3hrs hiking through hills, forests and tea gardens. The trek passes through a perennial lagoon called Poonchira. The forests of the camp are a good abode of birds and little wildlife. We offer climbing activities, off-road jeep ride, trekking, sunset view, campfire, trek to lagoon etc.
While staying in Poonchira camp one can club trekking to Chembra peak, Soochipara Waterfalls and Banasura treks and water adventures. One can club our Muthanga and Bhramagiri camps for a combo package of trekking, safaris and camping which cover major destinations of Wayanad.
The cost of the camp is based on number of persons. A full package with hiking, camping , inhouse rope activities and campfire cost Rs.2000/- per person with a minimum of 2 persons. The prices will decrease if there are more members. Special prices for students group, corporate and family get together.
