Western Ghats is a unique and special mountain chain, full of history and heritage, with a network of walks just waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. Munnar, perched on the roof of the Ghats is well known for its cool climate, unspoilt beauty, peace and tranquillity, there are walks to suit everyone - through gently rolling countryside, over high grassland, along river valleys or beside some of the finest stretches of rainforest and breathtaking views to be found anywhere in South India. Some trails are with historic and literary connections. Munnar is an early settlement of Colonial planters. Munnar is a known Neolithic settlement. We offers treks and camps to enjoy the enchanting hills, grassland, forest and wildlife.
Munnar is located in South Western Ghats with high peaks above 2000 MSL. The edges and leeward of these mountains offers excellent opportunities of adventurous treks.
The southern hill top forest and high peaks of Anamalais formed vast expanse of grassland atop hills interspersed with shola forest. Grassland walks offers unique experiences of hiking.
Munnar has the largest expanse of tea plantation in Western Ghats. We offer three hours to full day walking with tea garden experience trails from plucking to tea tasting.
There are walks to suit all tastes. In addition, some trails have historic or natural history links to give further interest.This gives opportunity to pick the exact interest, route length, landscape and exertion that you wish, by creating your own “pick and mix” .
From a one hour hike to full day trek, guided walk to a family stroll, a leisurely circular walk to the challenge of multiple days trek, you will find a wide variety of walks to be discovered and enjoyed. Many of the trails link up to form a network of walks, providing opportunities to pick and choose number of days. Since the trails are in two climatic regions it is wise to choose trails after customizing. January to June is the best time for the complete trail.Leeward trails are best during first monsoon.
