LAKSHMI HILLS TREK
LAKSHMI HILLS is located in West ridge hills of Munnar, overlooking western slope of Ghats array of Kerala. The mountain is a continuation of Chokkanmudi range and continued to Mangulam, separating Kallar Ghats and Mangulam gap. .
The landscape is undulated rocky grassland interspersed with shola forest, plantations etc . The average height of the section is 1700 MSL with a climax of 1800MSL. Since it is a narrow ridge , it gives enchanting view to all directions including Anamudi, Chokkanmudi etc.
Trekking trail is through narrow, but specified trekking path starting at 1500MSL. The first phase of the trek is through tea plantation to reach the grassland at 1600MSL Then gradual climb to the climax at 1800MSL, then downhill to starting point.
Usual programme is 4 hrs for an average hiker including view point break. There are two sessions a day starting at 8.30am and 1.30pm. Sunrise view and sunset view trek is also arranged on time. For birds and photography trek time bar is not a constrain.
North West end of the hills has undisturbed rainforests. The Western Ghats mountain endemic birds are present in its grassland and shola. Big animals are seasonal migrants. Good number of bog orchids, wild flowers and plants, butterflies etc are recorded.
The cost of the trek is based on number of persons. The price includes guide charges, water and energy bars.We will arrange pick up and drop from your hotel on extra cost. Photography trek, birding trek etc involve more time and cost more.
